On May 26th, Sandy Lake celebrated Earth Day with a community-wide clean up.  It is an annual event that has all employees of Sandy Lake First Nation outside cleaning up the garbage that has accumulated over the year.

Students and teachers from the elementary and high schools pitched in and community members also took the time to clean up their own yards.

The Corporation provided a free bbq lunch to all the participants and Chief and Council provided a chinese food and chicken dinner at the end of the day.  Most participants were given red t-shirts that reads, "REZ 211" on the front, and "I participated in cleaning up my rez" on the back to commemorate the event.

Chief Adam Fiddler thanked everyone for their hard work and reminded everyone to do their part to keep the community clean all year round.

Special thanks to Brighter Futures and other Health Authority programs for coordinating another successful Earth Day in Sandy Lake.
